Making this website usable by as many people as possible is a commitment we hold, and we treat accessibility as work that carries on rather than a box to tick once.

The standard we aim for

We work towards the level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. Across the web that is the yardstick people reach for, and UK and EU accessibility law points at it too.

What we do

• Write semantic, structured HTML, which lets screen readers move through headings, links and landmarks.
• Provide text alternatives for meaningful images.
• Support keyboard-only navigation, with visible focus and labelled controls.
• Aim for text and interface colours that meet AA contrast ratios.
• Build layouts that hold up under zoom and on smaller screens, with no content lost.

The gaps we already know about

Perfection is not on offer from any site. Certain third-party embeds, along with some older pages, may fall short of AA for now. Each update brings a review with it, and we fix problems as we spot them or as people report them.
