What currency will I be charged in?
The currency shown at checkout is the one you are billed in, then and for every renewal that follows.
You are charged in the currency shown to you at checkout. That is not an estimate converted afterwards — it is the actual amount and currency the transaction is processed in, and it is also the currency your account continues to bill in for renewals unless something about your account changes.
Why the price shown at checkout is the price that matters
Whatever figure and currency symbol you see on the checkout page before you confirm an order is what is actually charged. There is no separate conversion step applied afterwards on our side — the price shown is the price paid, in that currency.
If your card is issued in a different currency from the one you were charged in, your card provider — not us — handles the conversion to your card's own currency, and applies whatever exchange rate and any conversion fee their own terms set out. That conversion, and any fee attached to it, is between you and your bank; it is worth checking your card provider's terms if cross-currency fees matter to you.
Does the currency ever change on its own?
Your account continues billing in the currency it was set up in unless you change something that affects it, such as updating your billing country. If you believe your account should be billing in a different currency — for example after moving to a different country — see how to update your billing details, and check the currency shown against your account afterwards to confirm it is what you expect.
Renewals stay in the same currency
Renewal invoices are raised in the same currency as your original order, so there should be no surprise change in currency between one invoice and the next. See how renewals work for the broader picture of how and when those charges happen.
If a charge appears in a currency you did not expect
Before assuming something has gone wrong, check the currency shown on the specific invoice in your client area against what you expected — it is the definitive record of what you were actually billed and in what currency. If it genuinely does not match what you agreed to at checkout, contact support with the invoice number so it can be checked properly, rather than raising it with your bank first.
Paying with a card in a different currency
You are not required to hold a card in the same currency your account bills in. Most card providers will accept a payment in a different currency and handle the conversion automatically as part of authorising the transaction — the amount that leaves your account may differ slightly from the exact figure on our invoice once your provider's exchange rate is applied, which is normal and outside anything we control.
